Employment Supports

Each person admitted to Employment Services and Supports is observed and assessed in a community setting to measure likes/dislikes, strengths and potential barriers which would cause resistance. Our employment support and services are on-going to ensure job stability, address any work-related issues that may arise and give guidance in resume writing, interview skills, entrepreneurship and enhance technology skills that are needed in this advancing age of technology. Services include:

- Community support, development, organization and navigation 

- Job Development Plan or Self Employment Plan

- Situational Observation and Assessment 

- Co-Worker Supports

- Job Coaching Self-Employment

- Self-Employment Start-Up

- Job Development Start-Up

- Peer-to Peer Self Direction

- Career Advancement

Independent Community Living Supports

- Personal Assistance

- Community Transportation

- Health Insurance Counseling (Forms Assistance)

 

Job Seeker Profile

The intent of Employment and Community First has always been to provide a vocational support option for those individuals who were screened out of traditional rehabilitation programs. It is critical for the service provider to spend time with the job seeker to determine her/his personal strengths, concerns, desires, and anticipated employment outcomes. Short situational assessments in real work environments, person centered planning, and the identification of possible community and business supports will assist supported employment service providers in assuring high quality outcomes and job seeker satisfaction.

 

In Employment Services and Supports, the job seeker is provided the following:

- Information on the types of jobs the agency has assisted customers in finding, averages wages & benefits, etc.

- A description of the services available

- Introduction to potential employment specialists

- Assistance with setting up interviews with employment specialists

- References from other customers and employers

- Assistance with contacting references

 

Life Coach

Each person in Employment and Community First will be provided a Life Coach who:

- Helps people and family members spend time getting to know the service provider

- Helps people  in developing an employment vision

- Helps in encouraging people to share wants, likes, and needs

- Helps people to participate in situational assessment

- Helps people in developing employment potential

 

Individual Services and Supports

Our goal is not only to support people in community integration but also provide support through personal assistance for individuals whose family members need relief from daily responsibility of their care whether it is due to work, sickness, stress, and/or disability. We strive to make families comfortable with:

- Peer to Peer Support

- Personal Assistance

- Independent Supports Program (PAS, Independent Living Skills and Transportation)

 

Personal Care Programs for Individual Services and Supports

- Helps people to get to the places they want to go

- Gives people someone to discuss their problems and feelings with

- Helps people deal with social service agencies or medical facilities

- Helps people cope with or get through their symptoms (for example, panic attacks, depression, hearing voices,

  inability to concentrate and focus)

- Helps manage their money

- Helps with household needs and routines (for example cooking , cleaning, shopping)

- Helps people to remember to take their medication

- Helps people to organize or remember daily tasks and activities

- Helps people deal with physical/bodily needs (for example, personal hygiene, eating properly, getting proper sleep,

  dealing with illness or physical problems, improving their health)

- Helps with starting the day

- Helps to deal with landlord and other problems associated with living situations
